Dorothée Bouliane

Dorothée Bouliane is a young, emerging Quebec glass artist whose work reflects the excellence and creativity of fine crafts. She graduated in 2022 from Espace Verre in collaboration with Cégep du Vieux Montréal, and has since been the recipient of several bursaries.

I first saw molten glass dancing before my eyes at the age of thirteen. It was immediately obvious to me that I had to finish high school as soon as possible to get my hands on the blowing rod. Today, I still experience this wonderment on a daily basis with glass, which allows me to create by playing with transparency and opacity. The analogy I draw between glass and the human being is a growing source of creative inspiration, inviting me to learn more about the characteristics, limits and possibilities of glass.

A passionate and inspired craftswoman, she stands out for her mastery of cane-blown glass, a technique that demands exceptional precision and dexterity. She specializes in the production of objects and installations in blown and cast glass using the lost-wax technique. In her creations, Dorothée addresses the absurdity of our world, the strangeness of human existence, irrationality and relativity through narrative and duality.

Navigating between craft and visual arts, with glass as her material of choice, each piece she creates is the fruit of a meticulous process, transforming glass into functional and aesthetic works of art.

Glassblowing is an amalgam of concentration and delicacy, strength and speed. Glassblowing is a dance in which you have to be perfectly on the beat to enjoy the magic of the glassblower and the glass. This freedom is accompanied by a pleasant adrenalin rush.

Through l'Empreinte, Dorothée's works and creations find their way to a passionate and discerning public, who appreciate the quality and authenticity of handmade objects.
