textile craftswoman
Pascale Viau
"My label is my baby. I've found my style, my path and a way of doing things that's in line with my ethical and environmental values. I'm constantly working to develop a product so that it's as environmentally friendly as possible. There's a bit of my heart in every creation."
All creations are made from new textiles recovered from the garment industry, such as cuttings, roll ends and sample batches.
Pascale is also very fond of recycling post-consumer denim. It's another great way of using textile waste that's highly durable, while giving each piece a timeless look.

What excites you most about your job? The creative side, of course, but also the fact of designing objects in a tangible way. I love the fact of finishing a physical creation with my own hands. It's concrete and gives me a sense of satisfaction.
Why did you decide to join l'Empreinte coopérative as a member? I love the mutual support and working as a collective. Being artists, we're often in our own creative world, each in our own studio. Coming together in this way, united in a common goal, is very stimulating.
How do you see the cooperative making a difference in the world of fine crafts in Quebec? Joining forces in a cooperative helps everyone to shine. There's strength in numbers, as they say. The strengths of some make up for the weaknesses of others. Coming together makes us stronger, more confident and more capable of action.
