CERAMIST
Mathilda Lovell
Mathilda Lovell is a ceramic artist of Franco-British origin. She has the art and the way to transform the art of tea into a journey.
From her passion for ceramics, inherited from her grandfather, himself a ceramist, has emerged a universe in which everyday objects are reshaped in fantasy. Traditional, European, African, or aboriginal inspirations are mixed in Mathilda's clay, and reinvented through contemporary ceramic techniques.
From the art of tea to the art of living, cups, teapots, sugar bowls, but also incense holders, vases, jewelry, bow ties travel, and make travel, to the "sandstone" of a cheerful and cosmopolitan imagination.
The diversity of the creations follows an Ariadne's thread, swirling in spirals: inspired by the koru, symbols of peace and rebirth, they are as many winks of the artist, from one collection to another.
How do you see the cooperative making a difference in the world of Quebec fine crafts?
The fact that the products offered by l'Empreinte are exclusively handmade and made in Quebec promotes Quebec art, and the diversity offered by l'Empreinte proves that there's something for everyone!
