Fine Wood Worker
Sylvie Laframboise
Sylvie Laframboise (Boodbooa) graduated from the École d'ébénisterie d'art de Montréal in 2014. She also holds a bachelor's degree in visual arts from UQAM, and takes an artistic approach to woodworking. Every new piece evolves in a creative space, from conception to fabrication.
Each object is made by hand, with passion and expertise. The artist attempts to return to the source of the objects, to relearn how to appreciate them. Wood has a natural elegance, and each piece is unique and alive, in its grain, color, texture and patina.
Sylvie offers designs that go against standardization and fashions that you'll be happy to live with year after year. Wood is noble, timeless, natural, ecological and sustainable.

- What do you love most about your job? Creating and working by hand. The smell and the different types of wood.
- Why did you decide to join Empreinte coopérative as a member? It's a great family of craftspeople, and I wanted to work with them. Cooperation is a way of getting involved and participating in the company's success. It's also a wonderful boutique that allows us to distribute our work to a local and international clientele.
- How do you see the cooperative making a difference in the Quebec art world? An individual artist can do well on his or her own, but it's easier to do it as part of a group. The cooperative offers the structure, material and human resources to support the work of each of its members. L'Empreinte's longevity shows that it's a strength to bring together human resources and artistic talent to distribute each other's work.
