In spring 2023, Sylvie saw one of her works featured in the exhibition Parrall(elles): Another History of Design at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

Mélanie Laplante, Quebec glass artist and jeweler behind the MÉLA brand, shapes each piece of her Aurélia collection with passion and meticulousness. Inspired by texture and form, she first sculpts her creations in wax, giving them an organic, almost living dimension. Once cast in sterling silver, these works come to life.
It was on presenting them for the first time that Mélanie heard the first murmurs: "They look like sea creatures... seaweed... jellyfish...". Intrigued by these unexpected similarities, she let herself be inspired and named her collection Aurélia, in homage to the jellyfish of the Saint-Laurent estuary.
